Another year has flown by, and with that came many proposals and portraits, which meant more money going out! For those who don’t know, in 2015 I started doing something I called “Project 15”. The premise of it is simple: 15% of everything I make goes out to help those in need. Specifically, I chose 3 organizations that are in the fight for things that I consider matters of life and death: Charity Water (providing clean and safe water to areas that do not have easy access), Bombay Teen Challenge (rescuing and caring for those caught in slavery and addiction in the Red Light District of Mumbai, India), and The Innocence Project (fighting for the wrongly accused who are currently incarcerated).
For every session that gets booked with me, I let my clients choose which one of the organizations their portion of the giving goes to, and its encouraging to see the support go across the board for these groups. After 2 years in, the new total is up to $1,414 that I have been able to send along to these organizations!
I’m lucky enough to be able to do run a business that I believe has a strong impact in people’s lives. It’s an honor to be asked to capture the major milestones and moments in time for others, and that many value the stories told from my perspective. And I am extremely thankful to be able to continue a cycle of getting to give, and bringing all of you along that path as well.
Here’s to a great 2017! Looking forward to corporately making a much greater impact on this world than any of us would ever have been able to do individually.
