For a portion of my college career, I was a Spanish major. True story. You’d think I’d have a much better handle of the language with that. Lucky for us, we didn’t take an immersion trip, but rather a “relax-in-a-resort-where-majority-of-the-people-speak-english” vacation.
In August of 2009, my fiance (at the time) walked down an aisle towards where I was waiting, and before God and man we made a covenant for our future. Five years later, we’re still going strong! With baby #2 coming at the end of July, we decided to group together our 5 year anniversary with a ‘babymoon’, and headed out to The Beloved Hotel in Playa Mujeres, Mexico. The plus side of planning vacations around anniversaries are the potential perks- I let the resort know it was our anniversary, and they bumped us up to the Owner’s Suite, which is a 2-bedroom suite on the top floor! For those who don’t know, Eden is an extremely light sleeper and also does terrible falling asleep anywhere outside of her own room. We were originally preparing for the struggles of a 1-bedroom place and having to fall asleep at the same time as her in the same bed, so getting the extra room was truly a gift from God- well, the entire trip was obviously a blessing, and the extra room was just God going above and beyond, as always ;). Eden had a blast in her own room as well as in a provided crib, which helped take a lot of the worry out of this trip for us.
We escaped Chiberia for a few moments and headed out to sunny Mexico for a time of relaxation. Despite not sleeping well on the plane, Eden traveled well and had a blast building sand castles (though she wasn’t a fan of stepping in the actual sand) and swimming in the pool (but not too keen of the ocean). It’s great to finally be able to take vacations and do activities that she (as well as us) actually enjoy!
