Slowly playing catch up! :)
So a little over a month of ago, my wife and I celebrated 1 year of married life- and we figured since we made it this far, we’ll keep going :) We’re thinking about taking a bigger “anniversary” trip early in 2011, and decided to just a little weekend getaway as best as we could on our anniversary weekend, which was a lot of fun.
(disclaimer: Pics are a mix of my 5DM2 and G10)
On the Saturday of our anniversary, we headed to downtown Chicago and stayed in a condo overlooking the city. Gotta love Chicago!
The evening events consisted of dinner at Petterino’s (great food!) and watching Billy Elliot at the Oriental Theater (awesome musical!). Now, I enjoy more music than dancing in my musicals, but Billy Elliot was still an amazing show. We were in pretty much the front row, and its so awesome to be so close to the performers because they look directly at you and interact with you during the show. One of the little boys actually signaled to my wife to call him partway through– we never got his number though ;)
And then a look of the city at night- which city can match this?
We spent the next morning wandering around the Millennium Park area since it was beautiful out. And I had mini-shoot #1 of my beautiful wife:
After spending the morning in downtown, we made the drive up north to Kohler, Wisconsin, for a little getaway in The American Club. (I’ve been getting some heat from people who saw us at the local mall on Saturday morning andc claimed that the whole Kohler trip was a hoax…now I’ve got pictures to prove it! :)) If you ever need a place to get away from the buzz of the world, this is definitely a great option. Relaxation is their end goal, and they got it well. Not being used to such a quiet place, we felt like we needed to whisper to each other wherever we went because the place was so quiet! The service there was awesome, though. Never felt a worry or rush at all.
We dined at Cucina, which is a nice little restaurant in Kohler. We ate on the patio in the back, overlooking a beautiful lake. Perfect dinner, perfect view, perfect weekend.
<The wife stole the camera>
We decided to walk back from the restaurant as it wasn’t that far, and I decided we needed some new profile pictures. So we stopped in front of a random building. I’m surprised the wife let me stop us for so many pictures ;)
The main reason to head out to Kohler is obviously for their pool/spa services. I still have never gotten a professional massage in my life…maybe one day. But I was more than satisfied being in their beautiful waterfall pool.
Before we left Kohler, we checked out a chocolate cafe called Craverie in the area- I love specialty shops like this!
And just when my wife thought we were going to relax for a bit, I saw these pillars and needed to get one shot for us. Self timer, camera on a bench, propped up with my hat. Baller.
And then I ended it off with mini-shoot #2. My number 1 supporter, encourager, partner, and love of my life. I don’t know how I tricked her into marrying me, but I’ve got her for life now! :)
