Elisabeth + Andy : modern wedding {hammond, in}

I got to kick off the wedding season pretty early this time around, with Elisabeth and Andy’s modern wedding the day after New Years! It was such a great way to start the year off for me- a simple and blessing ceremony uniting two people, along with their close friends and families.
Everyone had a hand in helping Elisabeth get ready, including the flower girl-
Elisabeth and Andy chose to see each other before the ceremony, which is always fun. It also allows the bride to “straighten out” her groom :)
We were able to steal a few moments for portraits of just the two of them…it’s great when couples are so in love!
The ceremony was held at the Suburban Bible Church in Hammond, Indiana.
Both Elisabeth and Andy’s fathers are pastors, and so each of them shared time in giving the message during the wedding- how personal is that!
Elisabeth and Andy, thank you so much for allowing me to take part in your wedding day. I wish you guys all the best as you prepare for all the married life has to offer you two!

Susie + Shawn : modern weddings {troy, mi}

For the last wedding in 2009, these two threw an amazing party! They didn’t let a little weather scare mess up their day at all, and everything worked out beautifully. It was very obvious throughout the circumstances wouldn’t hinder the joy they had this day, which made the whole wedding turn out amazing from start to finish. Big ups to Brett Maxwell for second shooting for me at this wedding.
I started the day at Susie’s house as she got ready for her big day.
The ceremony was held at the beautiful St. George Orthodox Church in Troy, Michigan.
It’s always a big deal in these Indian Christian ceremonies for the groom to tie the “thali” around the neck of his bride- strands of thread taken from the wedding sari. I’ve never seen anyone mess it up yet, but it’s still a stressful moment! :)
The skies cleared up just enough for us to head out to Dodge Park for a few relaxed portraits with the bridal party. Massive props to the lovely ladies for braving the cold!
I then stole Susie and Shawn for a bit…two people in love make my job EXTREMELY easy :)
The reception was held the Royalty House in Warren, Michigan, where they put on a show to remember! From start to finish, everyone enjoyed themselves and were greatly entertained during the reception.
The big finish for Susie and Shawn was their young adult/youth ministry at the church they serve at all came together and put together a MASSIVE bhangra performance. They had know idea it was coming, and were so surprised at each group of friends that came out and took part in it.
Now…I’ve seen (and been in) my share of choreographed dances at weddings, but I’ve never seen people jump off ladders. Seriously!? Baller.
The party kept going through the night…these guys LOVE to dance!
Susie and Shawn, it was such a blessing to serve you guys in this way. I’m so excited for what’s in store for you this upcoming year and wish you all the best!

Rolly + Ben : modern weddings {oak brook, il, elk grove village, il}

If you are looking for a party, then you should have been at Ben and Rolly’s wedding. I can’t express how much fun it was having a full day with these two! It’s couples with this type of energy and such an amazing bond of love between them that make my role as a photographer so easy.
I had Steve Thomas second shooting for me, and he started off at the Ben’s house while I was with Rolly and the girls at the Westin in Itasca, Illinois.
I got a little bit of time with the girls for some quick portraits before heading out for the ceremony.
We then headed over to Christ Church of Oak Brook (oh which I have a special fondness for in that I got married in the same church the month before!).
Real men don’t need to wipe the tears away- now there’s a true sign of love.
We got a few moments for a some creative portraits after the ceremony before heading to the reception.
The reception was held at Belvidere Banquets in Elk Grove Village, and they set it up beautifully! If you’re looking for 3 signs that you’re wedding reception is going to be rockin’, here the are:
1.) Your MCs start with a full intro song and dance of BEP’s “I’ve Got A Feeling”
2.) One of your groomsmen comes out in a gorilla costume
3.) A few more in the bridal party break out old school MJ Thriller moves.
To keep the party pumping, some of Rolly’s friends from NY put together an awesome dance.
…and that was followed by Ben’s Chicago friends bringing the midwest groove into it.
The dance floor continued to be flooded until the DJ kicked us out…good times!
Rolly and Ben, thanks for inviting me to the party! :) You guys were amazing and I wish you all the best as you move forward in marriage.

Wedding Packaging

I’m in the midst of getting a lot of editing done and getting client stuff setup and ready to be shipped out, and I figured it’d be a great to show you all my packaging for my wedding clients. It’s definitely not anything mind blowing, but I love it! :) I like to keep things pretty simple in design, yet still have a punch to it…creatively clean.
The discs are all shipped in these beautiful cases with a gold stitch…
When you open it, you see my spiffy new business cards, with the dvd case tied in a lime green ribbon (hand cut and tied, mind you)…
Behind the case will rest any additional discs that are included (generally proposals, e-session images, engagement ceremonies). It all rests nicely on the lime green felt (hand cut and placed, mind you)…
All that’s left is untying the ribbon, and you get the main dvd of your wedding.
I don’t know about you, but I love it! :) It might take me a little bit extra time to put it together (I’m not a wiz at tying ribbon), but its definitely worth it for the final presentation.
