For those of you that know me, you probably would say I’m not the biggest foodie out there…heck, I’m probably not even considered a small foodie in the grand scheme of things. Give me a Totino’s pizza and a sprite and I’m good to go. But even though my tastes might not be as exotic as others, I can still value the artistry and talent of any industry.

The Star Chefs Rising Stars event is a place to showcase the future of American cuisine by up-and-coming chefs and culinary professionals across the nation. I was honored to be able to shoot some headshots for Chef Chris Albano, a Levy’s Restaurant chef from the Arlington Park Racetrack, for the Rising Stars magazine, as well as be invited to attend the Chicago event that was held at Cafe Brauer in Lincoln Park Zoo, which provided a beautiful view of this great city during the event.  So even though my tastebuds weren’t the intended audience for this event, I couldn’t turn down an opportunity for a date night. The wife and I passed the kids off to the grandparents and enjoyed a night out with other adults and fancy food! It was great to get away, as well as get a taste for some of the favorites from restaurants around the area, like Lula Cafe, Eastman Egg Company and Pleasant House Bakery.

While I might not ever truly appreciate the culinary geniuses that were here, I give major props for the passion they have for the industry and the work that they are doing day in and day out to master their craft.
