The Move : Before

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY EVERYONE!  (And Happy Independence Day to my United States friends :))

As I stated before, earlier this month the wife and I became first-time homeowners!  It’s been a crazy time for us trying to juggling everything, and right now we’re still getting situated and finishing up work and details on our place.  So we’re not at a state we’re just able to sit back and enjoy our new home just yet, but it’s still a little fun :)

First, a big shout out to our awesome realtor, Eddie Christudhas!  :)  I love working with people who have our best interest in mind.  He made the house search entertaining (as it can get kind of dry seeing 10 houses a day), as well as gave us insight as to pros/cons of different properties that we saw.  And it’s so great to have someone as an intermediary between yourself and the other agent…some of them are a bit crazy ;)  In the end, he got us a place we love at a price we can afford, and we had a great time getting it!  If anyone’s looking to bu a place in the Chicagoland area, let me know and I’ll connect you guys.

While we loved our new place, there’s always work to be done, so we hired Adrian from Nicholas Remodeling, Inc who did an amazing job.  We had them tear up the carpet for hardwood and a wood laminate in the basement, as well as overcome a wallpaper bedroom and repaint the entire main floor, 2 bathrooms and the master bedroom.  (The rest of the work would be personal projects for me…wish me luck!)

So here’s a glimpse at the original look of some rooms in the house, and some of work along the way…

I’ll have an update in a bit of more of the progress as we get settled, and how some of the finished rooms are turning out.  My big projects so far have been updating the ceiling lights/chandeliers, change out all the door knobs (brass to nickel), and finish my office (painting, lighting, etc.).  Still seeking out some inspiration for the office, so any help is greatly appreciated ;) (I also need help tearing down the wallpaper border in the office…just saying)
